3 Easy Mindset Tips to Create Authentic Confidence
Step into your new level of confidence and personal freedom
Confidence plays a significant role in many things you do in life. Think of it like the foundation of a building. A strong foundation supports a structure and keeps it stable. Similarly, authentic confidence supports your actions, decisions, and interactions. It helps you stay stable and resilient with whatever life throws your way.
But confidence is more than just feeling good about yourself. It’s about creating a deep, unshakeable belief in your abilities and worth. Confidence plays a crucial role in how you approach and overcome obstacles.
Building authentic confidence doesn’t happen on its own. It takes time to manifest. Through my past experiences, I’ve discovered several ways to create authentic confidence with some easy mindset practices. Here are my top three exercises.
Tip #1 – Commend Yourself on How Far You’ve Come
I know it’s sometimes easier to think of where you’d like to be. But instead, take a moment to think about where you are now – and all the steps you’ve taken to get here. Reflect on all you’ve overcome to be the person you are right now. How has all the wisdom you’ve learned positively impacted your life?
Take a few minutes to journal and reflect on some of these things:
✨ Write about a time you’ve felt truly proud of yourself
✨ Acknowledge what it took to overcome obstacles to accomplish what you did
✨ Reflect upon what you learned from this situation and how that knowledge has positively impacted your life
✨ Make a list of what you respect, admire, and love about yourself
✨ Pat yourself on the back for focusing on all your positive qualities and how far you’ve come
Chances are you haven’t been paying attention to the things you just journaled about because, instead, you’ve been focused on what you perceive yourself not to be. But self-confidence is about bringing your attention toward what is already incredible inside you.
Authentic self-confidence isn’t about comparing yourself to others or striving to be someone you’re not. Shift your focus to your inner strengths to help build a foundation of confidence that’s unbreakable.
Tip #2 – Clean Up Your Dialogue
Starting today, opt out of speaking negatively about yourself. As Don Miguel Ruiz reminds us, words cast spells. The words you use to describe yourself are incredibly important. They can either lift you up or drag you down.
Even if it’s said jokingly, don’t allow self-deprecating comments be a part of how you speak or think to yourself. If you tell yourself, “I look terrible” or “I definitely can’t do that,” your brain will begin to believe that over time.
You don’t want to trick your brain into thinking less of yourself. This can limit your potential and lower your self-esteem. Here are some examples of how you can turn a negative thought into a reframed, positive thought.
Words have the power to shape your reality. Use your words to speak the truth – and speak what you desire into existence. Remember to use them wisely and never against yourself. 💖
Tip #3 – Take Little Steps to Overcome Your Fears
Each time you choose to embrace discomfort, you open the door to growth. Tolerating discomfort is part of healthy growth. It enables you to push your boundaries and discover more of what you’re capable of.
When you live in fear and let your fears dictate your life, you slowly become less confident in your ability to navigate the world. Fear can be paralyzing – it shrinks your perception of what’s possible and leaves you feeling powerless.
But if you gently push your boundaries to do things that you find challenging, you grow and evolve. Remember, it doesn’t need to be anything extreme. Taking small steps is the best way to get started.
Here are a few examples of small steps:
✨ Swim in cold water
✨ Take a trip to a new place
✨ Try a new exercise or sport
When you consciously choose to live and act from a place of empowerment, you become more empowered. On the other hand, if you let fear rule your life, the less confident you’ll feel. Trust yourself to handle new challenges. Each small victory over fear will build a stronger foundation of self-assurance.
Embrace Your Journey
Building authentic confidence doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the small, everyday actions that make the biggest difference. Embrace the process. Trust in yourself and your ability to grow.
Continue to talk kindly to yourself and step outside your comfort zone. And don’t forget to celebrate your progress along the way – that’s important!
Let your confidence shine as you continue to grow and pursue your goals in life. You deserve to create the most beautiful life filled with authentic confidence, resilience, and personal freedom.
